Amit Hindu is a Bajrang Dal foot-soldier active in New Delhi and Gurugram. His task involves disrupting Muslim prayer congregations by shouting hateful slogans and attacking Muslim gatherings with weapons and lathis.

He has been arrested multiple times for disrupting peace and causing enmity between religious groups but has obtained bail each time. He continues his hateful campaign against Muslims in parts of Haryana and New Delhi unabated.

According to a News Laundry report, Amit Hindu abhors Muslims. In November 2021, he attacked Muslims offering Friday prayers in Gurugram along with his gang shouting ‘desh ke ghaddaron ko, goli maro saalo ko’ (shoot these bastards, shoot these traitors). A report by The Wire shows Amit Hindu, along with Monu Manesar ( prime accused in the case in which two Muslims were burnt alive in Rajasthan in February 2023), Kulbhushan Bhardwaj, and several other Hindu extremists shouting the slogan “Goli maro saalon ko, Hindu ke gadaaron ko (Shoot the traitors of Hinduism).”   When asked what he meant by ‘traitors,’ he said, ‘those who celebrate Pakistan’s victory in cricket matches’ and ‘even those who offer namaz in public’ are traitors.

According to a 2018 report in Hindustan Times, Amit Hindu has received wrestling training in the camps of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Akhada (training camps of the RSS). The bogey of ‘Land jihad’(the conspiracy theory that Muslims are acquiring lands or areas through “harassing” Hindus or illegal acquisition to consolidate Islam in India) that Hindu extremist ideologues peddle is disseminated on the ground through the likes of Amit Hindu.

Amit operates under the banner of  The Sanyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, a confluence of various extremist groups. The Samiti (association)  has been at the core of the anti-Muslim movement in the region and was formed in 2018 with the sole aim of stopping namaz in the open. It is an umbrella organization in Gurugram with 22 Hindutva outfits, including VHP, Bajrang Dal, Hindu Kranti Jal, Arya Samaj, Gurgaon Vahini, Sanskar Bharti, Arya Shikshan, Arya Virghar and Sanathan Bharti.

Amit attends Shastra puja (weapon worshipping) events where arms and ammunition are venerated to instill pride and passion among Hindus. He is a disciple of Dasna priest Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, who has given repeated calls for Muslim genocide.

Amit claims to be a ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member. The BJP has not yet denied the claim.

His Facebook profile contains pictures where Amit could be seen with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Khattar and Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij. There are other pictures that show Amit attending BJP rallies and marches.
