Gyan Dev Ahuja is a Hindu militant leader and fiercely anti-Muslim. He is associated with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). He was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Rajasthan (2013-2018) from Ramgarh, Alwar district.

His anti-Muslim hatred came to the fore when a video surfaced in August 2022, in which he claimed “..till now, we have killed five (referring to Muslims), be it in Lawandi, be it in Behror and one other place. By now, we have killed five. I have given complete freedom to activists to kill [inaudible]..kill the (abusive language) who are engaged in cow slaughter and cow smuggling. I have given them complete freedom. I have told them I would get them released and get them bails.”

He was referring to the mob lynching of  Pehlu Khan, who was lynched to death in Behror, Rajasthan, and   Rakbar Khan, who was killed by a Hindu mob in Lalwandi in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Later, justifying his remarks, he told a news channel, “there has to be some difference between patriots and traitors…Muslims are mostly criminals …indulged in looting, theft, cyber crimes.. they (Muslims) are eight percent in the Alwar district but are sixty percent in Jails. I do not endorse lynching, these killing occur coincidentally”.

An FIR was registered in Gobindgarh Police station against Ahuja under Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code for Promoting Enmity between Religious groups. He was questioned by police for hours on the matter but was never arrested.

During his tenure, Alwar witnessed repeated instances of mob violence against Muslims. Zakir Khan (December 2017), Pahlu Khan (April 2017),  Umar Khan (November 2017), and Rakbar Khan (July 2017) were killed by the Hindu mob during his tenure as MLA. All of these crimes have been defended by Ahuja in public, repeatedly, by saying, “People do get angry, do get filled with angst because, in India, the cow is seen as a mother.”

He is a prime subscriber to the bogey of Love Jihad. In  2018 he made a statement asking Muslims to  “return women they have lured away in the name of love jihad” or else double the number of daughters — double the number  (20 for 10, 80 for 40 ) of your (Muslim) girls will not be safe”.

Ahuja once claimed to have counted condoms and contraceptives on Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus. According to his bizarre claim, he had found 50,000 pieces of bones, 3,000 used condoms, 500 used abortion injections and 10,000 cigarette pieces every day in the university campus. He further said that rapes happen daily in JNU.

He demanded the government bring down the statues across the nation of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi. He further claimed that the people of this nation will spit on their statues.
