Mohit Raj Maharaj is an extremist monk and Hindu nationalist leader associated with the extremist political party Hindu Samaj Party founded by Kamlesh Tiwari.
In line with his party’s ideology, he yearns to transform India into a Hindu Rashtra (nation) and regularly delivers hate speeches against Muslims.
“If someone opposes our Sanatan Dharma, give them a befitting answer. And then India will itself become a Hindu nation, we won’t need a declaration for the same. We live in Hindusthan, in a land that belongs to the Hindus. This land does not belong to Akbar, Babar, Humayun, Bahadur Shah Zafar….this land belongs to lord Ram, lord Krishna, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Prithviraj Chauhan. This land belongs to you and us, and our land is going to be ruled by only Hindus,” he said at an anti-Muslim rally in April 2023.
He has been active in boycotting Bollywood movies featuring actors not aligning with the Hindu nationalist ideology. A recent one was the Shahrukh Khan starer Pathaan. The film faced massive boycott campaigns organized by Raj and other members of the Hindu nationalist groups for allegedly “hurting” religious sentiments.
With the help of his massive following on social media platforms, he regularly peddles anti-Muslim propaganda and conspiracy theories like love jihad and population jihad.
He often attends programs and rallies alongside prominent hate and genocide mongers in which calls for Muslim economic boycotts and genocide are given.
He works with other Hindu extremists, like Sadhvi Prachi and Sushil Tiwari, to promote anti-Muslim sentiments with complete impunity.
