Neeraj Atri, a fellow at Sarayu Trust (Sangam Trust), is a Hindu far-right author and researcher. He was President of the National Centre for Historical Research and Comparative Studies, Chandigarh.

Atri is a hardened Islamophobe and a staunch Hindu supremacist who wishes to transform India into a Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation).

In 2017 he co-authored a book, ‘Brainwashed Republic: India’s Controlled Systemic Deracination’ (Abhishek Publications, 2017), where he presented a Hindu supremacist historical narration of India’s past.

At the Hindu Convention in 2017, organized by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), Atri spewed venom against Islam and portrayed it as the cruelest belief system in the world. At the three-day convention, he took sessions promoting the anti-Muslim conspiracy theories and propaganda of  ‘Love Jihad’ and ‘Ghar wapsi.’ He opposed the public display of Islamic rites and rituals in India.

He routinely appears on several Hindu far-right Youtube shows and runs a Youtube channel with 262,000 subscribers to promote anti–Muslim propaganda and Islamophobic agenda. He frequently invites prominent Hindu extremists like Yati Narsimhananda and Tufail Chaturvedi on his shows.

He also convenes several programs on another Hindu far-right Youtube channel, Sangam Talks, which is replete with blatant vilification of Islam and Muslims.

At Neeraj Dixit’s The Jaipur Dialogues, he co-conducts a hateful show, ‘Deen Ki Dawat.’ The show’s sole purpose is to vilify and disparage Islam by misquoting and misinterpreting the Quran and other Islamic texts.

In one such program, he asked ‘sensible Indian Muslims’ to ‘outgrow Islam,’ which he equated with ‘drug addiction.’ He claimed that only terrorists can be a ‘good Muslim’ and Indian Muslims, who he says “are all converts,” have a comparatively kinder psyche and can never qualify as a ‘good Muslim.’

He added that it would have been better if India had gotten rid of ‘Islamic imperialism’ in 1947, on the eve of India’s independence from British imperialism.

Opposing the demands of Muslim girls to attend educational institutions along with their scarf ( Hijab), he declared that the practice of the Hijab is gaining territory as a creeping cultural aggression by Muslims that would essentially lead to a full-blown jihad to establish an Islamic state in India.

He frequently warns Muslims of the ‘Hindu awakening’ and its terrible repercussions while urging Hindus to equip themselves with weapons and rise against Muslims and alleged Islamic dominance in India.

Atri’s social media accounts are regular sources of hatred and bigotry.

In February 2023, he tweeted, “Enough is enough. Anyone who claims that Islam is a religion of peace has an opportunity to win 1,00,00,000/- INR. Otherwise, stop spreading the lie, leave Islam, and become a loving human.”
