Pandit Satish K Sharma is a Hindu theologian, philosopher, and yoga acharya (teacher) from the United Kingdom. He has been awarded the title of Dharma Sam-Rakshak (Custodian of Dharma) & is authorized to speak on the Six Darshans of Indian Philosophy by the Council Of Hindu Swami’s & Saints in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.
He is the Chairman of the Global Hindu Federation, a Hindu think tank that operates in several countries, including the United States. He has also been associated with the National Council For Hindu Temples, UK.
Sharma is a Hindu nation enthusiast and believes that India is a Hindu nation and has always been so.
In an interview with the Youtube Channel, ‘Festival of Bharata,’ he said,
“Bharat has always been a Hindu Rashtra because Hindus themselves govern themselves according to dharmic principles, and the only thing that has been taken away is that when the deadly sultanate was there and the Muslim rulers from the Turkish and then the Iranis and the afghanis and so on when they came they imposed a model of governance which was alien to the actual indigenous people of that Civilization. When the British came, they did the same they imposed a set of words and ideas and laws and rules and remember, all of these words and laws and ideas and rules are really statements made by human beings. We buy into them, and therefore they have power, and so the people who did this to the Hindu nation and the Hindu people in the Hindu Civilization. they temporarily injected into the mind of the Civilization some craziness….”
He supports Hindu nationalism or Hindutva. Sharma participated in the ‘I am Hindutva campaign‘ of the ‘Festival of Bharat,’ a Hindu right-wing Youtube channel, by uploading a video reiterating his commitment to the Hindu extremist ideology.
Claiming to be an emissary of ‘Dharmic traditions,’ he has delivered talks at TEDx, British colleges, and universities and appeared as a panelist on news channels.
Sharma has been propagating the idea of ‘Hindu subjugation’ and ‘Hinduphobia’ in the UK through his writings and talks. He has also been trying to create hype about the supposed “ethnic cleansing of Hindus in Europe and America” on various platforms.
In May 2019, Sharma, along with several others, wrote an open letter to the then Home Secretary of the UK, Sajid Javid, opposing the All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) on British Muslims’ definition of Islamophobia which was adopted by the Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats Federal board, Plaid Cymru, and the Mayor of London, as well as several local councils.
Sharma has been at the forefront of the anti-BBC protests in the UK, accusing the news agency of spreading Hinduphobia and promoting anti-India propaganda. The BBC extensively covers the ongoing persecution of Muslims in India.
In an interview with PGurus in June 2020 titled, “Why should Brits be forced to take the (Muslim) “Call to Prayer?”, Sharma opposed the Muslim call to prayer (Azan), declaring it ‘not religious but evangelical.’
In October 2022, Sharma and others staged protests in front of the BBC headquarters in London `against the alleged “Hinduphobia and Indiaphobia.”
Similarly, British Hindu organizations organized protests against The Guardian newspaper in September 2022. During these protests, they criticized the newspaper’s coverage of the August and September 2022 ethnic tensions in Leicester, England, between British-Pakistani Muslims and British-Indian Hindus, alleging biased and inaccurate news reporting.
