Raushan Sinha, also known as @MrSinha, labels himself as an Indian political commentator and Hindu rights activist. He’s a well-known far-right extremist figure on X (formerly Twitter), frequently sharing fake news and fueling hate and violence against Muslims. His account was even suspended for violating Twitter’s policies on misinformation, and his feed is filled with posts targeting Muslims. Sinha has built a well-organized network of extremist supporters, amassing over 359K followers on X.
Earlier in July, an FIR was filed against Sinha after Telangana Congress leaders accused him of spreading false information about Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s comments in Parliament. Gandhi had stated, “The BJP people are not real Hindus and these BJP people are violent,” but Sinha falsely claimed on his X account that Gandhi had said something entirely different in his speech. Sinha falsely claimed that Rahul Gandhi called all Hindus violent.
In his tweet, he wrote, “Rahul Gandhi calls all Hindus violent… Imagine anybody using a similar term for Muslims. Bloody secularism… I pity those Hindus who vote for them.” However, Gandhi’s actual statement in Parliament criticized the BJP, not Hindus, for promoting violence.
On July 29, Alt News fact-checker Mohammed Zubair called out Sinha again after he posted fake news claiming that 14,000kg of dog meat had been seized in Karnataka and that the police had arrested Absul Razak. However, food safety officials clarified that the meat was goat, not dog. Two FIRs were also filed against a cow vigilante and his gang. Sinha’s false claim gained 9.9k views and 450 retweets.
Last year in August, Sinha was again at his best to demean Muslims and to spread hate. In a now deleted video, Sinha had tweeted “I’ll go bald if Rahul Gandhi tweets on this,” this was caption along with an old video in which shows a Muslim man thrashing a minor inside a room that appears to be a madrasa. The clip is circulating on the Indian social media ecosystem with people questioning why isn’t the maulvi’s action condemned. According to Alt News, a Maulana (teacher) attacked a minor in Madrasa in Bangladesh. The Maulana was arrested by the police after the student’s father had filed a case. He was also sacked from the institution.
Sinha doesn’t stop—he consistently posts fake news, knowing that his loyal followers will amplify it, and he does so without fear of accountability. His aim is clear: to spread hate and ruin the lives of Muslims. In yet another instance, Sinha posted a video with the caption, “What kind of idiocy is this? I blame these women for going to such frauds… And if something goes wrong, everybody will blame the government.”
The video showed a man lying on a bed, while several people approached him for blessings. Later, he was seen touching women inappropriately, claiming to treat their medical issues. BOOM’s fact-check revealed the video was scripted and produced by a Bangladeshi company that raises awareness about deceptive practices. Despite the fact-check, the Sinha’s fake tweet went viral, garnering 4.6 million views, 10k likes, and 3.2k retweets. Sinha never deleted the tweet, as he doesn’t care about facts—he’s only focused on spreading propaganda that fuels hate against Muslims.
Sinha’s spread of misinformation goes beyond India, targeting international news whenever it aligns with his agenda of spreading hatred against Muslims. When the Israel-Gaza war broke out in October 2023, Sinha shared false claims, including one about 40 Jewish babies being beheaded, which was completely untrue.
In December 2022, following Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant’s car accident, Sinha falsely stated that the crash occurred in a Rohingya-heavy area, alleging that the locals stole Pant’s belongings instead of helping him. The police quickly set the record straight, revealing that Pant was rescued by Haryana Roadways bus operators, who alerted the authorities, saved him, and made sure his valuables were returned.
