Sushil Tiwari is a far-right Hindu supremacist leader from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He heads a Hindu militant organization named Hindu Army. The sole object of his organization is to make India a Hindu Rashtra (nation). The ‘Hindu Army’ motto reads, “Ekmart lakshya – Bharat ko Hindu Rashtra Banana” (The only goal is to make India a Hindu Nation).

He regularly attends anti-Muslim rallies and runs campaigns based on conspiracy theories and Islamophobic propaganda to galvanize Hindu sentiments against the Muslim community.

Tiwari blames Muslims for the inflation in the country by saying that their (Muslim) population has increased from five crores to seventy-five crores in the last seventy years. He further promotes anti-Muslim stereotypes and tropes by claiming that Muslims keep five wives and produce twenty-five offspring, causing stress on the country’s limited resources. He said that unless Muslims are not stopped from reproducing at the current pace, nothing can be done about the rising prices.

Tiwari believes India is a country of Hindus, and people with religious beliefs can stay in the country only by accepting Hinduism.

“Whoever wants can go to Pakistan, Yogiji (Yogi Adityanath) is providing the fare as well. You (Muslims) have been living in our country for seventy years, do ‘ghar-wapsi’ (conversion to  Hinduism), we worship cows, and so should you ( Muslims),” Tiwari said in a video message.

Tiwari was part of the August 8, 2021, anti-Muslim rally that was organized at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, where slogans calling for Muslim genocide were raised.

Slogans that were raised at the rally: “If you want to live in Hindustan, you must say ‘Jai Shree Ram.’ When Muslims will be slaughtered, they will shout ‘Jai Shree Ram.’”

Tiwari was arrested in the matter by the Delhi Police from his residence in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh but was later released on bail.

While out on bail, he attended another Hindu Mahapanchayat (Hindu religious parliament) at Burari, New Delhi, in April 2022, in which calls for Muslim genocide were given by many speakers and attendees like Yati Narsinghananda who urged Hindus to ‘take up arms’ against Muslims. Post the event, he told the media that his organization Hindu Army urged Narendra Modi to bring about population control law to check the rising population of the ‘heretics’ (Muslims.

He regularly peddles the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of ‘Love Jihad.’ Once he said that the alleged accused in a supposed ‘love jihad’ case be handed over to him and that he would burn him alive by sprinkling petrol over him.

He casually refers to Muslims as “traitors” and “Jihadees.” He accused Muslims of conspiring to render Hindus ‘napunsak’ (impotent) by mixing mendicants in dairy products.

Tiwari believes that Muslims spit in the food items ‘thook jihad,’ and sell ‘contaminated’ food items to Hindus.

Tiwari is also an ardent proponent of the idea of the ‘economic boycott of Muslims’. He urges Hindus to buy products only from Hindu shopkeepers.
